Licensed School Counselor for the 2024-25 School Year

Mackintosh Academy, an International Baccalaureate World School for gifted and creative students in Littleton, CO, is looking for a licensed school counselor (full or part-time) for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the social-emotional well-being of our gifted students, collaborating with educators, parents, and administrators to create a holistic and enriching educational experience.

Mackintosh Academy was founded in 1977 as Colorado's first school for gifted students and serves 135 students in grades pre-K-8th. Mackintosh Academy’s mission is to nurture the keen minds and compassionate hearts of the gifted child in a responsive and caring community of learners. Requested Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.

• Colorado State Licensure in School Counseling, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or equivalent.

• Experience working with gifted and twice-exceptional students is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of social-emotional development in children.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to be organized, flexible, and adapt to needs of a small school where faculty members work collaboratively and fill various roles. 

Responsibilities include:

• Provide counseling services to elementary students addressing academic, social, and emotional needs. 

• Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a collaborative network of support for students, ensuring their academic and emotional success.

• Develop and implement SEL programs that align with the unique needs of gifted students, promoting skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, and interpersonal relationships.

• Be available for crisis intervention and support, collaborating with the school's crisis response team when necessary.

• Conduct workshops and sessions to educate parents on the social-emotional development of gifted students and strategies to support their well-being.

• Establish connections with external agencies and professionals to provide additional resources and support for students and families.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards.

Start Date:  August 1, 2024

Pay Range: $40,000 - $68,000/year. Salary consideration is given for seniority, merit, quality, education, and experience.
